About Simon Lawrence Photography

I still have the very first picture I ever took, somewhere, which was with my mums camera, at a Shire Horse centre, probably in about 1990, 22 years ago! It was with the most basic (and yet still largely manual) camera, mum set the light up, wound it on, and I just pointed and shot. It was (naturally) a picture of a horse, and when printed (probably about a month later) was a tiny square, maybe 3"x3", and mostly darkness. Since then, I'd wager I've taken in the region of 50,000 pictures across all formats. I keep being told by my parents, photography is a very different world now to when they owned cameras back in the 80's...

I live and work in Bristol, UK, and typically only get to endulge in photography in my free time. I follow local band Los Conios around, shooting their gigs in exchange for press passes to their shows, which over time has lead me to seeing a number of great bands such as The Dead Kennedys and Stiff Little Fingers. My friends, family and pets have got used to always being on the shiny side of a lens.
