The Cameras I use

Nikon D70

My primary camera is now a professional Nikon D300, and I have with four lenses to work with. I typically use a Nikkor 18-70mm F3.5 ED DX AF-S lens, which does me rather well, but I also carry a Nikkor 50mm prime F1.8, which always gives me the best results in low light, even if it is fixed focal length.

For that far away stuff, I've equipped myself with a 70-300mm F4-5.6 DX AF-S as well, which, as a DX gives me effectivly a 450mm lens. I've been heard to say "I love this lens". For the telephoto I have a high contrast B&W filter, and a one step light filter. I'm yet to really experiment with Black and White though.

My back-up lens is a 20-100mm Nikon G-series (hey, I did say backup).

Nikon EM

I pack a 4Gb CF card, and a backup 1Gb card, which on my normal settings allows just over 1000 pictures before I have to worry about cooling down my shutter finger.

My second body is a Nikon D70. This was my original DSLR and has done me really well over the years. It's counting just over 25,000 shots now, and I wouldn't be ashamed for it to still be my main body now at all. It's a wicked camera, and I still often use it side-by-side with my D300, ready fitted with my 50mm lens, so I can switch between units instantly, without having to actually change lens. The D70 is a wicked camera.

Nikon EM

My first SLR was a 35mm Nikon EM, with a 55mm F1.8 lens, and a 120-300mm telephoto. I bought it second hand on the Isle of Man for £30 in 2003, it naturally needed a battery, and after the first film was developed, it clearly needed the light seal around the film door replacing too. My dad did that, perfectly, and I do still own this camera, but I'm currently in the process of having it all restored, as it's in need of some TLC at the moment. Once it's up and running again, I'm going to actually try to shoot a gig with it, see what photography is really about! I also plan to get into a bit of home development, rather than just being a digital photographer. I think I'm just old enough to be able to claim association with developed photos.
